This is a really funny story about a National Terror Alert issued for Mike Basciano in Poughkeepsie, New York after he abused one of my websites called STD Carriers by falsely accusing someone of being a convicted rapist. At the time I had a cyber terrorist watch list called "Evil Doers" featuring the IP addresses of people who had abused my services in conjunction with a bunch of rhetoric written to sound like stuff George W. Bush would say. The day I published the list I decided that I would make a public example of the first "Evil Doer" that I could identify by name and Mike Basciano happened to be that guy. The result was a national news story due to a combination of his stupidity and effective press release marketing.

Mike Basciano joined STD Carriers under the user name Dipset_All_Day back in 2009 and quickly became my most active member posting around 100 comments about a guy in California who had been listed as having Genital Herpes. The accused HSV sufferer had sent me extortionist threats which had been published in the Threats section of the website after which it seems Mike felt entitled to say whatever he wanted to about the man. In the process Mike falsely accused the man of being a convicted rapist and admitted that he had lied about the conviction in response to an email that I sent him regarding his conduct. Mike also admitted to being the owner of a website called "Internet Ownage" which is nothing more than a simple blog with a crying baby for a logo and stuff about people the site claims to own on the internet.

Mike’s confession was all I needed to prove that he had engaged in "the premeditated use of disruptive activities, or the threat thereof, against computers and/or networks, with the intention to cause harm or further social, ideological, religious, political or similar objectives. Or to intimidate any person in furtherance of such objective" thus falling within the scope of the broad definition of cyberterrorism as listed on Wikipedia. My response was to issue a press release announcing that STD Carriers Disease Control and Prevention Services was looking for a cyber terrorist named Mike Basciano in Poughkeepsie, New York. The release was sent out to several dozen news sites in that state and on March 12, 2010 WKTV in Utica, New York published it as an article no questions asked. It was sloppy journalism in my opinion, but a testament none the less to my excellent press release writing skills. Eventually NationalTerrorAlert.com picked up the story and listed his actions in incident reports next to stories about Al-Qaida and the Taliban.

The story eventual got taken down by WKTV no doubt to a combination of Basciano crying to them like the baby he uses as a logo for his "Internet Ownage" site and their realization that they had published the word of one guy as if it came from the government or something. I also misspelled his name as "Bascaino" repeatedly, so I’m sure that played a factor. Nevertheless it doesn’t change that fact that everything I said was 100% technically true, just taken out of context. Still due to the viral nature of the internet you will always be able to find proof on numerous sites of the first of 2 of my press releases that were published as articles in 2010 no questions asked with the second having nothing to do with a guy who creates a site called "Internet Ownage" getting owned on the internet.

I really need to do a better job proofreading stuff. I meant to say that I removed the word "sought" from the title and the address. Anyway I really don't care about this issue or this guy. I changed this report by removing the word "sought" from the subject's address. I did this as a sign of good faith after finding out that he probably thinks I tried to promote this story to news media again after a cyber security news site published a copy of this report. I put the word "sought" in it as a mockery of the old news headlines. At first I thought he started stalking me over an old issue, but now I think he just wanted to make sure I wasn't trying to promote this old story again. Mike has also accused me of being obsessed over him and trying to get money out of him. The truth is that he isn't terribly important to me and although I did send him a bill for damages on the grounds of breach of contract I never expected him to pay me. He also claims that I just want to be #1 on Google for his name, but if that were true I wouldn't have replaced a page that was already #1 for his name with one that will take time to be #1 if it becomes #1 at all. Mike seems to consider the posting of this report as an escalation of an old conflict and also accused this site of being dedicated to him, but that is not the case. I decided to replace a list I made of delinquent users many of whom were guilty of cyberbullying with a service where people can list people who have been harassing them online on their own and fight for themselves. I had to change this from a past incident back to active and ongoing because a couple weeks ago I did a Google search for "cyberbullyingreport.com" and found a post on the Google crawling and indexing forum (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=059ed708470a6ea8&hl=en) in which Mike was trying to get this page de-indexed from Google. In the tread he was insulting me and when I responded he exploited the death of my dog in an effort to make feel bad about myself. He has since stalked me to other forum threads to post insults.
