Jason Smith was convicted on multiple charges for stalking Alexandra Scarlett and received a 12 month prison term. The stalking started after Smith met the victim in a Manchester nightclub back in 2007 and she gave him her phone number. When Smith called Scarlett she decided not to go out with him, so Smith went psycho and started stalking her for nearly 2 years with a smear campaign that included countless threats.

Smith's smear campaign took place primarily on MySpace and Facebook with the creation of pages defaming Scarlett. The campaign was so brutal that she had to have the pages blocked over 40 times. He would also impersonate her and send messages to her friends.

Smith would send as many as 30 threatening messages to the victim every day even after she took out a restraining order. Some messages included threats to shoot her dad.
