Lori Drew drove a 13 year old girl to suicide by impersonating a man and calling herself Josh Evans. She said she created the profile for the purpose of getting information about her for future humiliation. Her first act was to send the girl her first ever internet love letter and things just went from there. Meier eventually fell in love with this unladylike lady thinking she was an older man saying at one point that she/he was the kind of man a girl would kill herself over and despite being a woman that turned out to be the case. On October 17, 2006 after being sent a vulgar message from Drew Meier got into an argument with her parents before going upstairs and hanging herself.

After attending the funeral Lori Drew admitted that she had created the fake MySpace page and sent those messages to the dead girl, but prosecutors couldn't think of a law she broke. Eventually the federal government charged her with computer fraud and convicted her, but the conviction was overturned on appeal.
