Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei Harassed a Gay Roommate to Suicide

Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei were arrested and charged with invasion of privacy after Ravi's failed attempt to become a gay porn producer resulted in a video of his roommate making out with a man, but not going further than that. Ravi and Wei were trying to catch him in the act because was that they knew that footage of Tyler Clementi engaging in sex acts with or passionately kissing a man would prove that Clementi was a homosexual because men who kiss men are usually gay or Bi-curious. Then they published the video on the internet on multiple websites for all to see. When Clementi found out about it he couldn't handle it, had a mental breakdown, and jumped off the George Washington Bridge. The incident was investigated and when police found out about the video they tracked down the producers because just like most states even New Jersey has laws against recording people in the privacy of their own home without permission.

Tyler Clementi was a gay freshman at Rutgers University who was assigned to be Dharun Ravi's roommate who shared a room with Dharun Ravi that was in the same dorm as Molly Wei. When Ravi started realizing that he had a gay roommate he reacted a lot like most guys his age by becoming uncomfortable, but he dealt with it inappropriately. He didn't want to have a gay roommate, so he thought the video tape would be an easy way to get rid of him without having to move out himself. Unfortunately Ravi was right, but not in that the way he thought with Clementi dead, him and Wei looking like jerks on the news, and both of them dropping out.
