Elaine Kallas of West Linn, Oregon submitted false information to the Oregon Attorney General's Office on Tuesday March 13, 2012. The information was submitted via email to the Civil Enforcement Division and was mailed sometime in April to STDCarriers.com by Alicia Suarez. The information was an official notice that they had received a complaint against my business when in fact the complaint made no mention of STD Carriers and falsely accused the founder of STD Carriers of "established this website http://www.nowpublic.com/". As the founder of STD Carriers my response to the charge is that I established NowPublic.com is that I am absolutely 100% not guilty.
As you can see by the official WhoIs domain registration (linked to above this description) NowPublic.com is owned by NowPublic Inc. I am not now and I have never been a member or employee of NowPublic Inc. Therefore the report submitted (a copy of which you can read below) might constitute a crime if it is illegal to submit false information to the Oregon Attorney General's Office.
DETAILS -- I was not victimized, nor does this involve me personally, but I was appalled and disgusted by a story on yesterdays (3/12/12) Anderson Cooper daytime talk show that aired in Portland. I then learned the subject is from Oregon - that really maddens me. His name is Cyrus Sullivan and he has established this website http://www.nowpublic.com/health/cyrus-sullivan-outs-std-carriers-website.
Anyone at any time can post a persons personal information (including photos) and state that he/she has an STD. He says he requires no proof (not that I feel that would make it justifiable!!) and he wont remove a post, even in instances when proof to the contrary is provided. He started the site as a way for people to get back at others with whom theyve had relationships because he exprienced not being told that a previous partner had an STD.
This MUST be illegal in some way, particularly since he profits from the bad reputations this creates. A visitor to the site, including victims, are given an opportunity for him to help improve their reputations for $1,000. I hope maybe the effort to profit from teh mess he helps make is enough to make it illegal.
I understand his feeling that the victim should work it out with the person posting such information however, that persons ID is protected. I think this is unconscionable.
